Marriage License Requirements:
1. Both parties must be present between the hours of 8:00 am & 4:30 pm.
2. Both parties must have picture identification (Driver license, Military ID, Passport)
3. Both parties must provide typed proof of their social security number.
4. If either person is18 years of age or under they must provide a certified copy of their Birth Certificate.
5. If either person is 16 or 17 years of age at least one parent or legal guardian must be present (must provide documentation of guardianship).
6. There is a $60.00 fee for the license which may be paid by cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover only). It is $20.00 cash fee for the Magistrate ceremony. Every certified copy is an additional $10.00.
7. The license is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase. It is only valid for use in the state of North Carolina.
8. The Magistrate's office is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You need two witnesses, and no appointment is needed.
